What you’ll do

As a Senior Buyer at Argos, you will play a pivotal role in translating the category strategy into actionable plans to deliver profitable growth for your assigned ranges. You will be responsible for creating and implementing a customer-driven strategic vision, understanding market trends and competitors through collaboration with Insight and CMI teams. Your role will involve collaborating with UK Design teams and Product Development to deliver the own brand proposition, ensuring well-designed ranges that differentiate Argos in the market. You will work closely with global brands to influence their product offers and build a credible curated customer proposition. Additionally, you will be accountable for managing pricing, developing joint business plans with suppliers, and navigating negotiations on costing. In conjunction with Merchandising teams, you will monitor market trends, competitor activity, pricing, and stock availability, making data-driven decisions to maximise sales, profitability, and market share. As a leader, you will manage and develop a high-performing team, drive commercial successes, and foster a culture of development and progression. Overall, your expertise, commercial acumen, and strategic mindset will contribute to the success of your ranges and the achievement of key performance indicators.

 

 

Essential Criteria

  • Based at our London Store Support Centre on average 2 days per week with occasional travel to our other locations and suppliers 
  • Previous Buying experience within a similar category
  • Previous experience managing a team
  • Previous experience of working within a commercial team in a large retailer
  • Proven track record of delivering results to target as an individual and a team
  • Experience of looking after a large category and a wide supply base
