What you'll do

You will be responsible for designing and developing innovative value strategies and frameworks that position Sainsbury's as customers' First Choice for Food. Your role will involve analysing pricing and promotions data, framing commercial and customer questions, and bringing together key insights and stakeholders to drive strategic change across value propositions and channels. Additionally, you will lead the business-wide integration of these strategies through compelling storytelling, collaborating with stakeholders to strengthen propositions, and ensuring post-launch review of propositions to meet commercial and customer objectives. Your expertise in value performance and market insight will be crucial as you closely follow market movements, provide regular reporting, and communicate the Sainsbury's Commercial Strategy to galvanise stakeholders behind the vision.

Who you are

You are a customer-centric and commercially astute professional with a strong passion for driving strategic change and delivering impactful value propositions in the retail market. With a deep understanding of commercial levers, market dynamics, and financial insights, you excel in analysing complex data to generate clear insights and recommendations that drive business growth. Your ability to lead and inspire others, build strong relationships across the organisation, and communicate compelling narratives enables you to craft and implement winning value strategies that position Sainsbury's as customers' First Choice for Food.

Essential Criteria:

  • Proven experience in developing and implementing value strategies within a customer centric, large commercial organisation, ideally in the retail sector.
  • Significant demonstrable expertise in gathering, analysing and understanding large and varied data sources
  • Experience in consolidating data into meaningful insight and using these insights to drive strategic change across value propositions and channels. 
  • Ability to lead business-wide integration of strategies through compelling storytelling and collaboration with stakeholders across a range of seniorities.
  • Proficiency in following market movements and providing regular reporting to communicate commercial strategies effectively.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to generate clear insights and recommendations from complex data to drive business growth.
