As part of our Supply Chain Transformation team, you’ll be working in one of the most dynamic areas of Sainsburys, supporting in becoming a market leading, innovative retailer who delivers exceptional solutions for our customers and colleagues. Supply Chain Transformation is one of the most ambitious change programmes Sainsbury’s will ever deliver and you will be an integral part of planning and delivering the change to the business. 

This role can be based from any of our support office location (London Coventry or Manchester)

The Senior Change Manager will be critical in effectively landing a variety of initiatives that integrate, automate and optimise processes and systems across the Supply Chain & Logistics Division driving efficiency and a world class customer experience to support our ambitious targets. 

 

You will work in a matrix environment reporting to the Head of Business Change and alongside a multi-disciplinary team including Change Managers, Project Managers, Product Owners, Business Analysts, Learning & Development, and a broad spectrum of other functions including but not limited to Sainsbury’s Tech and our Commercial teams. 

 

You must have the ability to work autonomously, and the ability to communicate with a variety of stakeholders at all levels, have excellent facilitation skills, a keen interest and demonstrable experience in Change Management methods and practices and a strong attention to detail with proven skills in prioritisation and organisational skills.  

 

What I am accountable for  

  • Define, own and deliver Change Management methodologies for one or more of our transformation workstreams 
  • Support the Head of Business Change in delivering all aspects of the change plan, including activities associated with stakeholder analysis, change impact assessment, training, business readiness, communications and engagement  
  • Produce high quality change materials, including presentations, training material and written communications. 
  • Facilitate workshops with impacted stakeholders at all levels of the organisation 
  • Be a self-starter, with the ability to engage and motivate Team & internal/external stakeholders at all levels  
  • Work at pace and to tight deadlines. 
  • Input into the strategic direction of the Supply Chain Transformation programme and specifically the change plan via your interactions with Project Managers, Programme Leads, Product Owners, and the Director of Supply Chain  
  • Provide challenge, guidance, and support to both senior stakeholders, direct reports and colleagues in the business as a Business Change subject matter expert 
  • Develop strong business partnerships with other internal departments and our external partners 
  • Be able to influence at all levels and be credible in engaging stakeholders in project scope and deliverables. 
  • Develop an in-depth understanding of the processes and systems utilised across the whole Supply Chain function as well as our strategy and business priorities. 
  • Ensure support of sharing of knowledge across the whole team to feed into succession plans and limit single points of failure. 
  • Bring a new perspective to initiatives, challenge the status quo, and identify opportunities to do things better/cheaper/faster. 
  • Proactively identify and manage risks, issues, and dependencies to swift resolution. 
  • Manage, lead, and inspire a team of Business Change Managers 
  • Be aware of competitor developments and industry best practice to help inform transformation. 
  • Role model positive, collaborative, and agile ways of working with all areas of the business with clear thinking and strong communication. 
  • Line management responsibility of at least one Business Change Manager, exact structure tbc 

 

What I need to know  

Essential 

  • 4+ years of experience in specific Change Management roles, or Management Consulting. 
  • Track record of successfully delivering large scale change initiatives of significant complexity with multiple stakeholders and broad impact across a multiyear programme  
  • Expert knowledge of Change management theories (e.g. ADKAR/Prosci, Kotter, Lewin etc) 
  • Programme Management and Lean methodologies. 
  • Demonstrable experience in delivering end to end change plans from inception through to user adoption 
  • Line management experience  

 

Desirable  

  • Experience implementing change at a large retail organisation 
  • Experience implementing change in Supply Chain 
  • Experience setting and implementing a workforce strategy

  • Excellent facilitation skills 
  • Ability to prepare/deliver succinct and engaging presentations, as well as robust business cases 
  • Problem solving capability 
  • Ability to understand complex information and dilute it into simple and engaging materials 
  • Ability to work in an ambiguous environment, project timelines and deliverables are changing at a rapid pace, so the ability to be agile in temperament, keep cool in a high-pressured environment and deal with lots of unknowns whilst moving forward and continuing to deliver is essential 
  • Ability to lead others through ambiguity and uncertainty 
  • A motivational, confident, and enthusiastic individual who naturally leads people through change and difficult transitions
