What you'll do

Your primary responsibility will be to provide investment appraisal and decision support for major property investment decisions, collaborating closely with the Sainsbury's Property Investment team and Mixed-Use Development (MUD) team on significant projects. You will offer financial insight to support business cases, including investment appraisal, options analysis, and accounting implications for various property projects such as Mixed-Use Developments, Sale and Leaseback of property, and Freehold Buy-in of property. Your role will involve liaising with internal and external stakeholders, leading the year-end property valuation process, and ensuring accurate financial reporting. Additionally, you will work collaboratively with the broader Finance division to understand the full financial impacts of Property projects and drive excellent financial and commercial performance through your strong commercial acumen and decision-making skills.

Who you are

You are a seasoned finance professional with a professional accounting qualification and several years of post-qualification experience. Your strong commercial acumen, coupled with advanced Excel skills and investment appraisal experience, enables you to provide valuable financial insights and decision support for major property investment decisions. With your ability to effectively communicate with senior stakeholders, prioritise tasks, and drive excellent financial performance, you play a crucial role in partnering with key business teams and external parties to ensure the success of property projects and drive strategic appraisal decisions.

Essential Criteria

  • Professional Accounting Qualification: ACA, ACCA, or CIMA, with demonstrable post-qualification experience
  • Advanced Excel Proficiency: Demonstrable experience in financial modelling and data analysis using Excel
  • Stakeholder Communication: Proven ability to effectively communicate financial information to senior stakeholders with varying levels of financial and commercial understanding
  • Commercial Insight: Demonstrable experience in applying commercial acumen to influence financial and business performance
  • Autonomous Working: Evidence of successfully managing priorities and delivering outcomes independently within a team environment
