What you'll do
As the Head of Consumer Communications at Sainsbury's, you will lead and shape the consumer communications strategy across various brands, including food, drink, lifestyle, Habitat, Tu, Beauty, Argos, and Nectar. Your role will involve creating and delivering integrated campaigns that showcase the distinctive quality, value, and services offered by Argos, while driving high-quality media coverage to attract and retain customers. You will champion an integrated approach to storytelling across various channels, ensuring that social, digital, influencer, and owned channels work seamlessly to deliver cohesive and impactful communications. Additionally, you will be responsible for evolving the consumer narrative to maintain Argos' distinctiveness and authority in the AI-driven search and discovery landscape, ultimately positioning Argos as the retailer of choice and driving desirability for the brands and products.
Who you are
As the Head of Consumer Communications at Sainsbury's, you are a seasoned leader in the field of consumer communications with a proven track record of developing and executing high-impact campaigns across a diverse range of channels. With extensive experience in managing complex relationships and driving strategic communications initiatives, you possess excellent judgement, creative thinking, and a strong focus on delivering measurable results that strengthen brand reputation and drive customer engagement. Your ability to lead and inspire teams, collaborate effectively across functions, and navigate the evolving media landscape make you a key asset in shaping and delivering a compelling consumer communications strategy for Sainsbury's and its associated brands.
Essential Criteria
- Significant senior‑level experience leading consumer communications and PR across complex, large‑scale organisations.
- Strong expertise across UK media (online, offline and emerging) and passion/curiosity for emerging AI/LLM‑driven channels
- Proven ability to deliver high‑impact, insight‑driven campaigns, manage agencies and handle large volumes of information under pressure.
- Excellent leadership capability — team development, collaboration, strategic thinking and budget management.
