About the Team

Argos Retail Operations sits at the heart of how we serve millions of customers every week, ensuring our store's estate operates efficiently, safely and compliantly. Within this, the Retail Operations team works closely with stores, fulfilment hubs and central functions to continually improve availability, reduce operational loss, and enhance the colleague and customer experience. The team plays a critical role in identifying emerging risks, embedding robust routines, and enabling stores to deliver strong commercial outcomes in a fast‑paced retail environment.

 

More about the role

As a Retail Process Specialist, you will act as a subject matter expert across retail operations, inventory management and loss prevention, helping to optimise stock integrity and reduce shrink across the Argos store estate. Using data, insight, and strong operational knowledge, you will identify risks and vulnerabilities, diagnose root causes, and shape effective interventions that improve process compliance and operational performance.

Day to day, you will work closely with Retail Operations leaders, fulfilment teams and cross‑functional partners to embed standardised routines, support the rollout of new processes and controls, and provide clear, evidence‑based recommendations. With a particular focus on hub stores, you will support performance improvement at scale while representing the voice of stores in process design, ensuring solutions are practical, effective and fit for purpose.

Being part of an agile Retail Operations team, this role supports retail activation and rapid response, including patterned weekend working and nationwide travel, to drive continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to simplify, standardise and enhance operational routines within the wider Argos retail support model.

 

More about you

You bring demonstratable experience working within retail or supply chain operations, with a strong understanding of stock flow, inventory routines and compliance controls. You are comfortable working with detailed operational data and can translate complex information into clear insight and actionable recommendations that influence decision‑making at multiple levels.

You are proactive, resilient, and able to work at pace in an agile environment, balancing multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail. You build trusted relationships quickly, communicate with clarity and adaptability, and show a genuine commitment to continuous improvement, simplifying processes to make life easier for colleagues and better for customers.

 

Essential

  • Strong working knowledge of retail operations, stock processes, supply chain flow, loss prevention routines, and compliance controls. 
  • Understanding inventory metrics, shrink levers, waste drivers, stock flow processes, and operational risk indicators. 
  • Ability to interpret detailed data and convert it into meaningful insight and action.
  • Strong communication skills, being able to flex style across a wide range of audiences and varying levels of stakeholders.
  • Ability to work at pace to operationalise tests and learn opportunities, ensuring stores have clear direction to support great execution.

Desirable 

  • Great planning and prioritisation skills to ensure activities and workloads are planned and communicated effectively.
  • A demonstrated passion for seeking opportunities to eradicate pain points and make things simpler for colleagues, better for customers and at a reduced cost.
