With regular travel to Supply Chain & Logistics sites (predominantly South, with some Midlands/North), time will be split between site visits, occasional Store Support Centre collaboration, and home working.

Our Supply Chain & Logistics teams play a critical role in enabling Sainsbury’s to deliver for customers every day, operating at pace across complex, operational environments. The People Partnering team sits at the heart of this division, working closely with senior leaders to shape culture, strengthen leadership capability and drive sustainable performance.
This is an environment where People decisions have wide‑reaching impact. You’ll support teams across distribution and logistics networks, influencing outcomes that improve colleague experience, operational effectiveness and long‑term business performance.
More about the role
As a People Partner, you’ll partner with senior leaders across Supply Chain & Logistics as a trusted and visible advisor, supporting the execution and delivery of the divisional people plan. You’ll translate business priorities into clear, data‑led people actions, acting as a conduit into Centres of Expertise to ensure the right capability is engaged to solve business challenges.
Day to day, you’ll mobilise and deliver people plans that build leadership capability, enable performance and embed a high‑performance, inclusive culture. This will include supporting organisational effectiveness and design activity, leading or contributing to change and transformation initiatives, and coaching leaders to take ownership of people outcomes. You’ll use people data and business insight to prioritise actions, track progress against agreed measures and ensure people interventions deliver measurable impact.
More about you
You are an experienced People or HR professional, comfortable operating as a senior business partner within fast‑paced, complex operational environments. You bring a commercial mindset and are confident balancing immediate operational priorities with longer‑term people and capability outcomes. You will line manage a team of People Delivery Partners, ensuring delivery and capability across the portfolio.
You build effective, trusted relationships with senior leaders, influence with credibility, and provide appropriate coaching and constructive challenge. You use evidence and data to inform decision‑making, adapt your approach as priorities evolve, and are motivated by creating environments where leaders and colleagues can perform at their best in an inclusive and sustainable way.
Essential criteria
- Demonstrable experience partnering with senior leaders to develop and deliver divisional or functional people plans aligned to business priorities.
- Proven experience leading teams and leading/supporting people‑impacting change or transformation initiatives within complex operational environments.
- Evidence of using people data and insight to inform decisions and track progress against agreed outcomes and measures.
- Demonstratable experience working collaboratively with Centres of Expertise or specialist teams to deliver joined‑up people solutions
- CIPD Level 7 or equivalent demonstrable people partnering knowledge, skills and experience.
- Hold a full UK driving licence
