We’d all like amazing work to do, and real work-life balance. That’s waiting for you here at Sainsbury’s. For a FTSE business, we move incredibly fast. When we’re not leading projects, we’re supporting teams across the wider group to achieve their goals. And here, you can see the impact of your work as soon as you walk into a store, giving you a real sense of purpose and responsibility. Better still, the team around you will listen to your ideas and opinions, and you’ll have every chance to try something new. The scale and complexity of our business mean there’s always something new to learn, and we’ll support you every step of the way. We’re trusted to get on with it. So get ready to make things happen.

This role requires nationwide travel which flexes throughout the year, but typically you’ll be in Sainsbury’s sites 2 days per week, and desk-based for the rest of the week (working from home, or in a Store Support Centre).

Why join us

Joining Sainsbury's as a Format Delivery Project Manager means becoming part of a dynamic team dedicated to delivering customer-focused, brand-aligned, and commercially viable store implementation packs. With a strong emphasis on collaboration and communication, you'll have the opportunity to lead end-to-end project delivery. By fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation, we provide a supportive environment where you can contribute your expertise and skills to deliver exceptional outcomes and positively impact the customer experience.

What you'll do

You’ll lead and deliver store implementation packs to support our Estate wide investment programme. These will be customer-focused, deliver our agreed brand toolkit, be commercially viable and completed on time and within budget. You’ll work collaboratively with internal teams and external partners to ensure that store specific scopes meet agreed Sainsbury's brand standards, customer commitments, and operational requirements. You’ll coordinate stakeholders, attend scoping meetings, provide guidance on desired outcomes, prepare design proposals, maintain project documentation, and drive continuous improvement initiatives to simplify processes and enhance customer outcomes. You’ll ensure the successful delivery of design-led investment projects in a retail environment while effectively managing project parameters such as cost, programme, risk, and stakeholder relationships.

Who you are

You have a proven track record of successfully delivering design-led projects in retail, commercial, or built environment settings. With a strong understanding of project management principles, you excel in coordinating internal and external stakeholders to ensure that agreed design solutions are consistently delivered. Your ability to interpret briefs and communicate effectively, enables you to lead end-to-end project delivery, make informed decisions, and deliver exceptional store implementation packs that enhance the overall Sainsbury’s customer experience.

  • Experience interpreting project briefs and consistently applying an agreed design toolkit to achieve the project outcome
  • Evidence of coordinating and communicating with internal stakeholders and external partners.
