What you'll do

As the Concept Graphic Design Manager at Sainsbury's, your primary responsibility will be to lead and oversee the creative development of branded communications in-store for all Retail Concepts and Formats. You will work collaboratively with various teams and stakeholders to create and implement clear design briefs, manage external agencies, and ensure that compelling design concepts are translated into high-quality, customer-focused store environments. Your role will involve driving innovation, championing continuous improvement in design outcomes, managing project budgets, and fostering strong communication and collaboration across teams to deliver commercially successful retail design concepts that enhance the customer experience and uphold brand standards.

Who you are

As a Concept Graphic Design Manager at Sainsbury's, you are a seasoned professional with extensive experience in retail design, brand expression, and print production best practises. Your strong leadership skills, coupled with a proven track record of delivering complex retail projects on time and within budget, enable you to lead the creative development of branded communications instore for various retail concepts and formats. With exceptional communication abilities and strategic thinking, you excel in driving innovation, engaging stakeholders at all levels, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality, customer-focused store environments that elevate the brand presence and enhance the overall customer experience.

Essential Criteria

Proven experience leading the creative development and delivery of retail design concepts, from initial insight and concept creation through to implementation in-store. 

Experience in graphic design, brand communications, signage, wayfinding and customer journey design within a retail environment. 

Experience managing multiple complex projects simultaneously, delivering to agreed timelines, budgets and quality standards. 

Experience creating and developing clear design briefs, project plans and compelling creative concepts aligned to commercial and customer objectives. 

Experience working with and managing external agencies, suppliers and delivery partners, providing creative direction and quality control. 

Experience and knowledge of retail design, brand expression, print and production processes, including an understanding of construction and production methods. 

Experience working either client-side or agency-side within retail design environments. 

Proven leadership experience, including managing and developing designers while delivering multiple concurrent projects.
